The Math Literature Program is a technology program in which students in grades K - 5 participate once a week for 45 minutes.  During that  time, students learn how to use the computer as a tool to aide their learning.  Through a variety of projects, they develop various computer skills such as keyboarding, word processing, basic computer operations.  Through the use of the various Microsoft programs, they learn how to create slideshows, brochures, tables, charts and graphs.

Kindergarten - Kindergarten students are learning how to log in and out of a network account.  They are also learning the different parts of a computer and how to use the mouse appropriately.  They are practicing language and math skills through the use of the programs Bailey's Book House, Millie's Math .

Grade 1 - Students are learning how to log into a network account with a user name and password.  They are reviewing mouse skills as well as math and language skills through the use of programs such as Sammy's Science House, Trudy's Time and Place, Kid Works and max Count.

Grade 2 - Students have been using a program called Max Write, which is a simplified version of Microsoft Word.  Through this program, they practice various word processing skills such as changing font size,color and style; constructing a bulleted list; inserting clip art; deleting text using delete or the backspace key and saving and retrieving documents.

Grade 3 - Students began the year by using the program called Inspiration.  With this program they created a graphic organizer about themselves, entitled "All ABout Me". Presently, students are using Microsoft Word to create an acrostic poem about a Fall theme.  Through this project they are learning how to format text by changing font size, color and style; how to bold, underline and center text; how to enter and delete lines between sentences, how to insert clip art and how to save and open documents.  

Grade 4 - Students began the year using Microsoft Word to create a document about one of our nation's patriotic songs.  This allowed them the opportunity to practice their word processing skills.    They reviewed previously learned Microsoft Word skills such as inserting clipart, using word art and changing font size, color and style. Presently they are working on a slideshow about Connecticut.They began the project by using the internet to research important facts about Connecticut such as the governor, bordering states and the state song.  They have been learning how to create new slides, add background, transitions, custom animation and even sound to their presentations.


Grade 5 - Students began the year using Microsoft Word to type The Pledge of Allegiance.  This allowed them the opportunity to review their word processing skills, such as inserting clipart, using word art and changing font size, color and style. Presently they are working on a slideshow about Native American tribes.They began the project by using the internet to research important facts about a specific Native American tribe, such as their location, types of homes, clothing food and weapons.  They have been learning how to create new slides, add background, transitions, custom animation
